Central Quang Tri province posted GRDP growth of 6.52 per cent year-on-year in the first half of 2023, a four-year record in a six-month period, according to local authorities.
The province also granted licenses to 252 new businesses in the period, with total registered capital of more than VND2.2 trillion ($93 million).
Total retail sales of goods and services stood at over VND15.4 trillion ($650 million), a year-on-year increase of 18.03 per cent.
The province’s Index of Industrial Production was up nearly 11 per cent year-on-year.
More than 10,700 jobs were generated, equivalent to 89.63 per cent of the annual target.
However, businesses in Quang Tri still face many difficulties, including rising prices for production materials and fuel and a shortage of orders. Many enterprises have had to rescale their production or even temporarily cease operations.
Over the remaining months of the year, the province will focus on measures to promote production and trade, mobilize and effectively use different resources, accelerate the implementation of public projects, and improve the investment and business environment, according to provincial authorities.
