Vietnam’s total retail sales of consumer goods and services in 2023 has been estimated at over VND6.2 quadrillion ($259.6 billion), up 9.6 per cent compared to 2022, according to the General Statistics Office of Vietnam (GSO).
Revenue from the retail sale of goods was estimated at more than VND4.85 quadrillion ($202 billion), accounting for 78 per cent of total earnings from goods and services and up 8.6 per cent.
Localities posting increases in the retail sales of goods included northern Quang Ninh province, with 12.2 per cent, southern Binh Duong province 11.4 per cent, northern Hai Phong city 10.4 per cent, southern Dong Nai province 9.1 per cent, the Mekong Delta’s Can Tho city 8.4 per cent, Ho Chi Minh City 7.8 per cent, Hanoi 7.1 per cent, and central Da Nang city 5.9 per cent.
Revenue from accommodation and catering services, meanwhile, was estimated at VND673.5 trillion ($28 billion), up 14.7 per cent against 2022.
