Sam Son in north-central Thanh Hoa province will mobilize resources to invest in tourism infrastructure and accelerate the construction of tourism projects to further boost its tourism development.
Local authorities will also increase inspections to stop service providers overcharging tourists, with violators to be strictly punished, according to Secretary of the city’s Party Committee Luong Tat Thang.
Thanh Hoa province ranks third in the country in terms of attracting tourists, following Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism has said.
It welcomed 11 million tourists last year and earned revenue of over VND20 trillion ($836 million).
More than 7 million of those tourists visited Sam Son, generating turnover of more than VND14 trillion ($585 million), a 4.5-fold increase in numbers and 5.22-fold in value compared to 2021.
The city targets welcoming 7.2 million visitors and earning VND15.5 trillion ($648 million) this year.
