The volume of goods passing through Vietnam's seaport system is estimated to reach 864.4 million tons in 2024, an increase of 14% compared to that in 2023, reported the Vietnam Maritime Administration.
Cargo volume measured in TEUs is expected to grow by 21%, reaching 29.9 million TEUs.
The number of vessels passing through the seaports in 2024 is estimated to be 102,670, an increase of 2% compared to the same period in 2023.
The number of inland waterway vehicles passing through the ports is expected to reach 380,100, an increase of 8%.
Simultaneously, the volume of goods transported through Vietnam's seaports by Vietnamese vessels in 2024 is estimated to reach 140.9 million tons, an increase of 3% compared to the figure recorded in 2023. Specifically, container cargo is expected to reach 3.04 million TEUs, an increase of 11%.
Additionally, vessels flying the Vietnamese flag have handled nearly 100% of the domestic cargo transported by sea (excluding certain specialized vessels such as LPG and bulk cement).
