State Appraisal Council established for Cai Mep Ha port complex project

Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha has signed Prime Ministerial Decision No. 1593/QĐ-TTg on the establishment of a State Appraisal Council to evaluate the investment policy of the Cai Mep Ha Port complex.

This project also includes a logistics center and zones for industrial, urban, and service functions in Ho Chi Minh City.

Under the decision, the Chairman of the council is Finance Minister Nguyen Van Thang, who will be assisted by a Deputy Minister of Finance.

The project is essential amid the context when the seaport system in the Cai Mep – Thi Vai port area has demonstrated its strategic position as the most developed seaport system in Vietnam with a capacity of accommodating vessels of up to 250,000 tons.

The Cai Mep – Thi Vai deep-water port system also plays an important role as a strategic export gateway for the southeastern economic region and the country as a whole.
