State President Nguyen Xuan Phuc and a high-ranking delegation from Vietnam arrived in Seoul on the afternoon of December 4 to begin a State visit to the Republic of Korea (RoK) made at the invitation of President Yoon Suk Yeol.
The visit takes place at a time when the two countries are celebrating the 30th anniversary of diplomatic ties, with the bilateral strategic partnership exhibiting fine, practical, and effective development.
During the visit, President Phuc will hold talks with his RoK counterpart and witness the signing and exchange of a number of cooperation documents.
He will also meet the Prime Minister and the Speaker of the RoK’s National Assembly, attend the Vietnam - South Korea Business Forum, and hold working sessions with leaders from RoK enterprises and leading economic organizations.
With a population of 51.62 million, the RoK ranks 10th among the world’s largest economic powers and the fourth in Asia in 2022.
In 2021, its GDP was around $2,057 billion, an increase of 6.4 per cent year-on-year, while per capita income was $35,168 and foreign reserves $499 billion.
