The National Assembly on May 29 adopted a resolution on piloting special mechanisms and policies to accelerate the development of social housing nationwide.
The resolution will take effective from June 1.
One of key policies is to simplify administrative procedures for social housing projects. Under the resolution. planning, approval and adjustment processes for social housing projects, and investment procedures will be simplified, while mechanisms for setting sale and rent prices, and eligibility criteria for housing support will be applied.
Other policies include the establishment of a National Housing Fund which aims to expand the availability of rental housing, especially for individuals unable to afford homes.
Another highlight of the resolution is the clarification of housing eligibility conditions for those entitled to social housing support. Specifically, individuals working far from their place of residence will be eligible to buy or rent social housing if they do not currently own or rent such housing, or if their existing home is located far from their workplace.
