State Treasury raises over $1.5bln in government bonds

The State Treasury had raised over VND37.4 trillion ($1.526 billion) in government bonds as of February 21, fulfilling 29.5 per cent of the issuance plan for the first quarter of the year.

The average issuance term was 11.9 years and the average issuance interest rate 2.19 per cent per annum.

There are plans in place to auction VND400 trillion ($16.3 billion) worth of government bonds this year, including VND127 trillion ($5.18) during the first quarter.

In 2023, the State Treasury raised nearly VND298.5 trillion ($12.18 billion) in government bonds, reaching 98 per cent of the plan assigned by the Ministry of Finance. The average issuance term was 12.6 years and the average issuance interest rate 3.21 per cent per annum.

The total payment of principal and interest on government bonds last year was over VND184.5 trillion ($7.53 billion), of which the principal was more than VND101 trillion ($4.12 billion).
