Vietnam is yet to have a plan for sea areas for wind power development, and there are legal and technical problems for the offshore wind power sector. The Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment has therefore proposed suspending appraisals of offshore wind power surveys until the government promulgates a Resolution on wind measurement, observation, investigation, and geological surveys and a topographic assessment of environmental impacts at sea.
In order to consolidate and improve the quality of appraisal services and contribute to limiting negativity in the management and use of assets, avoid wasting social resources, and ensure similarity among services, the Ministry of Finance is actively collecting comments on its draft revised Price Law. Many regulations have attracted conflicting opinions, however.
The Ministry of Construction has held a conference to appraise the general planning for the city of Ha Tien in the Mekong Delta’s Kien Giang province and the Ha Tien border-gate economic zone to 2040. The city is to become a growth pole in the western reaches of Kien Giang province, a key urban area in the Delta, and an international border gate city with coastal tourism.
Two component projects of the North-South Expressway in the first phase, totaling nearly 130 km from Chi Thanh to Van Phong and Van Phong to Nha Trang in south-central Phu Yen and Khanh Hoa provinces and with total investment of more than VND23.5 trillion ($1.02 billion), have been submitted to the Ministry of Transport (MoT) for appraisal.
