Vingroup has submitted a proposal to authorities in Ho Chi Minh City seeking appraisal for an investment plan to study and develop a sea-crossing bridge connecting the city’s coastal area of Can Gio with its Vung Tau under a build–transfer (BT) model.

Under the proposal, the 14.6-km route would begin at Bien Dong 2 Street in the Can Gio sea-encroachment urban area, cross Ganh Rai Bay and link with Vung Tau via the planned Mai Sao–Ben Dinh road, ending at the intersection with 30/4 Street in Tam Thang ward.

The project would comprise a 3.1-km undersea tunnel, an 8-km sea bridge and nearly 3 km of connecting roads.

Total investment capital is estimated at more than VND92.66 trillion ($3.63 billion).

If approved, construction could begin in the second quarter of 2026 and be completed by the first quarter of 2029.
