According to the Ministry of Information and Communications, as of August 19, the SMEdx Program, which supports small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) with digital transformation, had about 379,865 such enterprises accessing and experiencing “Make in Vietnam” digital platforms.

The Ministry of Information and Communications assessed Vietnam’s digital transformation targets at the recent 3rd meeting of the National Committee on Digital Transformation.

A representative from the Payment Department at the State Bank of Vietnam told a press conference to announce “Digital Transformation Day” that banking services on digital platforms continue to develop strongly, especially digital banking services. E-payment services have also been digitized and are growing rapidly. In the first half of this year, non-cash payments increased 77.2 per cent in quantity and 29.8 per cent in value.

According to the Ministry of Information and Communications, the number of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) accessing and participating in the SMEdx program in the second quarter reached nearly 270,000, up 59 per cent against the first quarter. The SMEdx program targets developing and implementing plans to support the digital transformation of SMEs in all of Vietnam’s 63 cities and provinces.

The orientation of the government and the Ministry of Information and Communications on digital transformation this year is to encourage people and businesses to use local digital platforms and to help them enjoy the benefits of the process.

Businesses are using digital platforms to stay abreast of the changing situation.

Though many agricultural products from cities and provinces around Vietnam are now available on e-commerce platforms, such sales are not easy for farmers because they are more comfortable with traditional methods and lack technological skills.
