Analysts and businesses discussed taking bilateral trade and investment cooperation between the two countries to the next level at the “India-Vietnam Business Meeting” on September 28.
At the Horasis 2022 India Economic Cooperation Forum on September 26 in southern Binh Duong city in the province of the same name, Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam said that “through the Forum, we can jointly assess and carefully consider the impact of regional, inter-regional, and global issues with the prospects of recovery and comprehensive and sustainable development of Vietnam and India. The President of the Indian Rice Exporters Association has said that the introduction of a tax on rice exports from September 9 will benefit rice suppliers in major food-growing countries such as Vietnam, Thailand, and Pakistan.

One bottleneck, however, is in transport, especially the absence of direct sea routes connecting the two countries. A Non-Disclosure Agreement on technology transfer, production, and distribution relating to the Nanocovax vaccine has been signed between India’s Vekaria Healthcare LLP and Vietnam’s Nanogen Pharmaceutical Biotechnology JSC. This will be the basis for the two sides to discuss specific cooperation on the third phase trial of the expansion, production, and distribution of the vaccine on a large scale when it is licensed for use.
Covid-19 has negatively affected Vietnam’s dragon fruit exports to China. The Ministry of Industry and Trade will therefore support businesses to find partners and export the fruit to India and Pakistan - two markets of potential boasting cooperative relations with Vietnam.
