On March 10, in Amsterdam in the Netherlands, Bamboo Airways and Air France Industries KLM Engineering & Maintenance (AFI KLM E&M) signed an MoU for an aircraft engine maintenance support package worth $750 million. Bamboo Airways aims to expand its international flight network to 40 routes in 2022.

The Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam (CAAV) has proposed increasing regular flights to and from Europe and Australia and at the same time raising the frequency of existing flights. The aviation sector conducted 64 flights carrying 7,847 passengers to Vietnam in the first week of 2022, when the country “reopened its skies”.

If Vietnam delays the reopening of international flights, it will not only lose the opportunity to attract passengers at the right time but may also see recovery stall in other fields and perhaps even lose its competitiveness in tourism. Synchronous policies are required to reopen international flights quickly to fully restore the country’s tourism sector.

Permanent Deputy Prime Minister Pham Binh Minh has approved a pilot plan to restore regular international flights from January 1 to and from destinations with a high Covid safety index. The move will also promote Vietnam’s economic recovery and tourism sector and not let the country fall behind others in the region.
