Mekong Delta saltwater prevention sluice set to open
The Mekong Delta regularly faces drought and major saline intrusion. The Cai Lon - Cai Be saltwater prevention sluice project, with investment of VND3.3 trillion ($146 million), would be the largest in the region and is expected to be completed by the end of November, controlling and regulating water sources on 384,000 ha in Kien Giang, Hau Giang, Ca Mau, and Bac Lieu provinces.
