The Ministry of Transport (MoT) has developed five national specialized plans for the 2021-2030 period and vision to 2050 on roads, railways, maritime, waterways, and aviation. Priority is being given to investment projects in the Mekong Delta. In the 2021-2025 period, the region will receive investment of VND50.7 trillion ($2.22 billion), accounting for 20 per cent of the transport industry’s total investment.
The Mekong Delta region has been hit hard by the fourth outbreak of Covid-19. The production and processing of agricultural and aquatic products - key goods in the region - have been completely paralyzed. Experts say the region needs to prepare measures to cope with the pandemic.
Rice enterprises in the Mekong Delta are facing many difficulties from the impact of the pandemic. The banking sector will therefore introduce solutions such as expanding and increasing credit limits for rice purchasing in order to remove the difficulties and avoid disruptions to the rice supply chain.
