The Ministry of Information and Communications has said that Vietnam has over 126 million mobile phone subscribers, an increase of 2.6 million compared to the same period last year, of which 93.7 million use smartphones. The number with feature phones stands at over 26 million but is falling every month, in line with the policy of turning off 2G in some areas by 2023 and shutting it down nationwide in September 2024.
According to the Ministry of Information and Communications, the Standing Agency of the National Committee for Digital Transformation, as of the end of August, some 97.3 per cent of eligible online public services have been provided at level 4, with about 40 per cent of administrative documents processed online. Many localities have introduced initiatives and sound practices to improve the efficiency of online public service delivery.
The Ministry of Information and Communications is developing a draft Strategy for digital transformation of the media to 2025 and vision to 2030, with the media developing towards multi-platform, multi-media, and multi-services. By 2030, 90 per cent of electronic media agencies will convert their operating mechanisms to a model of a converged, multi-media newsroom.
