Cargo throughput at seaports up again

Figures from the Vietnam Maritime Administration put the total volume of goods passing through local seaports in the first eight months of 2022 at an estimated 495.8 million tons, up 3 per cent year-on-year. Container cargo totaled 17,059 million TEUs, with an increase in exports and imports of 4 per cent and 6 per cent, respectively.

Criteria for green ports being prepared

The Vietnam Maritime Administration is collecting comments on draft basic standards on green port criteria in Vietnam. The assessment and certification of green port standards will be carried out every three years. Green port criteria are built based on three main criteria: Commitment and readiness; Action and implementation; and Efficiency and effectiveness.

Seaports seeing low growth

According to the Vietnam Maritime Administration, the volume of goods passing through the country’s seaports reached just over 370 million tons in the first half the year, up a mere 2 per cent year-on-year. The Ministry of Transport is studying a policy to help the industry post higher growth.

Vietnam plans to invest in developing seaport system

The Vietnam Maritime Administration has just submitted to the Ministry of Transport a plan on developing the seaport system in the period of 2021-2030, with a total investment cost estimated at VND300 trillion to VND320 trillion.
