Dah Lih Puh (DLP) Group from Taiwan (China) plans to invest $100 million in building a footwear factory in central Ha Tinh province, the Ha Tinh online newspaper has reported.

The group’s chairman Jui Fen Hsiao made the proposal at a meeting with provincial authorities on September 11.

The project will cover 30ha in Lac Thien Industrial Cluster. It is expected to create jobs for 4,500-5,000 workers.

The group also plans to expand one more production line, around 20km from Lac Thien Industrial Clusters, after the factory is put into operation.

The investment plan is made in response to higher market demand and labor shortage in some regions, according to Mr. Hsiao.

The group has so far invested in 10 factories in Vietnam.
