Techtronic Industries Vietnam (TTI Vietnam) was highlighted as one of ten enterprises demonstrating exemplary dedication to environment, social, governance (ESG) activities at the 2023 AmCham Vietnam ESG Impact Showcase on November 21.

The Showcase was hosted by the American Chamber of Commerce in Vietnam (AmCham) in Ho Chi Minh City at its traditional “Giving Thanks” Dinner to honor and recognize AmCham members who have demonstrated a significant ESG impact in Vietnam. TTI was named alongside nine other companies that not only deliver economic success and financial sustainability but also integrate ESG as part of their long-term business strategy, contributing to nurturing an ecosystem for responsible business practices in Vietnam. The recognition solidifies Techtronic Industries’ dedication to contributing to the Vietnamese community through its unwavering commitment to ESG principles.

Ms. Susan Burns, US Consul General in Ho Chi Minh City, congratulated and recognized the significant contributions of companies in the US business community in the southern city in ESG practices. “The ESG Impact Awards are an opportunity to celebrate companies that have made a positive impact in Vietnam and to demonstrate that businesses can thrive by doing good,” she said.

Upholding the leading global cordless power tools company in Vietnam with ESG Excellence

Following Vietnam’s commitment to Sustainable Development Goals, TTI Vietnam has been integrating ESG values across its strategy and decision-making process, which has resulted in significant value creation for all stakeholders through its four strategic drivers: Powerful Brands, Innovative Products, Exceptional People, and Operational Excellence.

Its determination to lead the industry in sustainability stems from a passion for creating breakthrough products that protect people, minimize the environmental impact, and have a positive influence on communities it operates in. In Vietnam, the company places great emphasis on fostering a strategy that prioritizes the development of the bond between the environment and the community. The strategy is in line with TTI’s decarbonization global strategy backed by the commitment to Science-Based Target Initiatives (SBTi) to reach the emissions reduction target of 60 per cent in Scope 1 and Scope 2 greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by 2030.

“We are very pleased to be recognized by AmCham as a company making significant contributions to the community at the 2023 AmCham Vietnam ESG Impact Showcase,” said Ms. Tran Thuy Linh An, Vice President of Human Resources and Strategic Projects at TTI Vietnam. “This is testament to our ceaseless efforts in creating a positive impact in Vietnam. The recognition will provide us with additional motivation and inspiration to continually expand our contribution to society.”

Commencing operations in Vietnam in August 2018, TTI Vietnam has been an active player in the industry, proven by its flagship brand Milwaukee, with the Milwaukee Heavy-Duty Center in Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi, a reputable employer fostering 10,000 Vietnamese employees and a socially-conscious business with a practical ESG framework. TTI initiatives focus on decarbonization, responsibility in resources and materials use in partnership with local suppliers, and investment in and engagement with the community. Its commitment to decarbonizing manufacturing operations is exemplified by the current construction of LEED Certified energy-efficient, state-of-the-art manufacturing sites at the Saigon Hi-Tech Park.

In contributing to the community, since 2019 TTI Vietnam has cooperated with its partner Habitat for Humanity to build WASH facilities to help underprivileged communities in the Mekong Delta’s Tien Giang and Kien Giang provinces and northern Thai Nguyen province. The 2020- 2021 project in Go Cong town in Tien Giang benefitted 169 households and 500 students, while the 2022-2023 project in Kien Giang and Thai Nguyen provinces is expected to equip 100 families with new houses and WASH facilities, while over 150 students will enjoy new latrines. Training workshops and communication campaigns within the program will help almost 1580 people increase their knowledge and skills on building a safe house and safeguarding their families’ hygiene and health.

Empowering Exceptional People

One of the backbones contributing to Techtronic Industries’ success in ESG lies in its excellence in being environmentally-conscious and a “roof” for people in investment and development. TTI is fostering 10,000 employees in manufacturing facilities and offices around Vietnam, and the company puts its heart into nurturing talent in nearby communities. In keeping with its international legacy, TTI has implemented the Leadership Development Program since 2022 in Vietnam to nurture the next generation of talent, providing recent graduates with opportunities to explore their potential and excel in specialized knowledge and essential skills within the organization.

TTI was also recognized among the “Best Companies to Work for in Asia” in 2023.

Embarking on educating local talent, TTI has joined hands with AmCham Ho Chi Minh City and Da Nang in the AmCham Women in Engineering Scholarship program for two consecutive years, presenting scholarships to 130 female students at 12 institutions in the two cities and southern Dong Nai province to study and explore STEM subjects for a better future. TTI has also supported 25 talented young people in accessing opportunities to bring their startup ideas to fruition at the German Business Association’s Business Challenge Competition, Season IV, this year.
