US electric car maker Tesla has set up a subsidiary in Vietnam, officially named Tesla Motors Vietnam LLC.
According to business registration records, Tesla Motors Vietnam LLC has its office at 2 Ngo Duc Ke Street, Saigon Ward, Ho Chi Minh City.
The company is registered to operate in seven business sectors, including wholesale and retail of automobiles, auto parts, machinery, and several other wholesale and retail activities.
The company has charter capital of VND77.7 billion (equivalent to $3 million).
Tesla Motors Vietnam has three legal representatives: one Vietnamese and two Americans. Among them, David Jon Feinstein, a senior executive at Tesla, serves as Chairman of Tesla Motors Vietnam LLC.
The other two legal representatives are Isabel Ching Fan, who holds the position of General Director of Tesla Motors Vietnam LLC, and Nguyen Manh Hung, Assistant General Director.
Tesla has not yet officially sold cars in Vietnam. The establishment of a legal entity does not necessarily mean the company has announced plans to sell vehicles, open showrooms, or build a charging network in the country.
Tesla is not the first company from Elon Musk’s ecosystem to establish a direct presence in Vietnam. Previously, SpaceX founded Starlink Services Vietnam LLC to deploy its Starlink satellite internet service.
