North-central Thanh Hoa province welcomed nearly 500,000 tourists during this year’s Tet (Lunar New Year) holiday between January 20 and 26, according to the provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
The figure represents an increase of 47.6 per cent over Tet last year.
Total revenue from tourism during the holiday reached VND357 billion ($15.1 million), up 41.6 per cent year-on-year.
The province has set a target of welcoming 12 million visitors this year.
Vietnam’s tourism sector catered to about 9 million domestic travelers during the week-long Tet holiday, up 47.5 per cent over the previous Tet, according to the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism. Total revenue is estimated at VND17.5 trillion ($745.79 million).
