Deputies to the 15th National Assembly (NA) on October 31 discussed in groups a draft master plan on the transformation of central Thua Thien-Hue province into a centrally-run city, as part of their ongoing eighth session.
Addressing a group discussion, Party General Secretary To Lam, who is also a deputy to the NA, said that the policy to establish the Hue municipality has been discussed for a long time with an aim to make it the sixth centrally-run city of the country.
The Party leader requested to develop special mechanisms and policies for Hue city to turn it into the growth pole of the central region.
He reminded Thua Thien - Hue province to ensure harmony in development of rural and urban areas, while overcoming difficulties in the process to meet the criteria of a centrally-run city.
By 2030, Thua Thien-Hue is envisioned to become a distinctive cultural, tourism, and specialized healthcare hub in Southeast Asia, and a national hub for sci-tech and quality, multidisciplinary education and training, according to the Politburo's Resolution 54-NQ/TW.
