Localities across the country welcomed 12.5 million tourists during the nine-day Lunar New Year 2025 (Tet) holiday that ended on February 2, a year-on-year rise of 19%, according to the Viet Nam National Authority of Tourism (VNAT).
Ho Chi Minh City was the top destination, receiving about 2.1 million visitors, up 16.7% year-on-year.
Many localities reported high growth in revenue during the period. Eight provinces and cities recorded a revenue that exceeded VND1 trillion ($39.3 million), including HCM City, Hanoi, Da Nang, Khanh Hoa, Kien Giang, Quang Ninh, Lao Cai and Ninh Binh.
Northern Quang Ninh province welcomed nearly 970,000 tourists, including 230,000 international visitors. Total tourism turnover is estimated at VND2.6 trillion ($102 million).
Central Da Nang city welcomed over 469,000 tourists, including 228,000 foreign visitors. The city’s tourism revenue reached more than VND1.88 trillion ($74 million).
