Transport development in Red River Delta gets boost

Anh Tú -

Priority to be given to logistics services and infrastructure under new transport planning for the region.

The Ministry of Transport (MoT) will upgrade and improve the operational efficiency of airports in the Red River Delta as part of a transport development plan for the region to 2030 and vision to 2045.

Under the plan, which was issued recently by the MoT, the ministry will give priority to developing logistics centers at airports with goods transportation demand of over 250,000 tons annually.

It will also invest in renewing loading technology and applying advanced technology to boost transportation services and logistics quality.

The inland port network will also be improved to link different modes of transport and provide logistics services. Transport modes will be shifted from inland roads to railways, waterways, and coastal transport to ease congestion in transport activities and logistics supply chains.

The MoT will introduce policies and mechanisms to encourage the formation of large-scale transport businesses capable of providing domestic and international transport services at reasonable prices and with high quality.

It will also study and adjust mechanisms to help transport companies enhance their competitiveness and capacity.

In order to help fulfill transportation development targets for the region, the MoT will create a favorable and full legal environment for the development of the transportation market, attract the involvement of different economic sectors in conducting transportation business, boost administrative reform, and complete the legal system for the public-private partnership investment form as well as mechanisms and policies to promote investment socialization for infrastructure development.
