Transport activities posted handy growth in the first nine months of 2023, with year-on-year increases of 13.1 per cent in passenger transport and 14.6 per cent in cargo transport, according to the General Statistics Office (GSO).
Passenger transport was estimated at 3.4 billion people while cargo transport stood at 1.68 billion tons.
In September alone, passenger transport reached 398.8 million, up 5.7 per cent year-on-year, while cargo transport was estimated at 192.3 million tons, up 12.5 per cent.
Transport by all sectors rose in the first nine months against the same period last year. Passenger transport by rail posted the highest growth, of 44.4 per cent, followed by sea, with 42.8 per cent, inland waterway 23.7 per cent, air 21.9 per cent, and road 12.2 per cent.
