The Department for Roads of Vietnam at the Ministry of Transport (MoT) has proposed for construction of two new expressways in the south and central regions of Vietnam as part of the road network development planning for the 2021-2030 period with a vision to 2050, according to a projected plan submitted by the department to the MoT for approval,

Accordingly, the projected Ca Mau - Dat Mui expressway will run through southernmoust Ca Mau province with a length of 90 km. Meanwhile, the Quang Ngai - Kon Tum expressway will be 136 km long, linking  southern central coastal province of Quang Ngai central Quang Ngai with the central highlands' Kon Tum province.

The two expressways will have four lanes and are expected for investment before 2030.

The department also proposed to expand four expressways, including three sections of the Eastern North-South Expressway and the Noi Bai – Bac Ninh – Ha Long expressway, to meet increasing travelling demand and local socio-economic development.

If the planning is approved, the expressway network of Vietnam will have 43 expressways with a total length of 9,234 km by 2050.
