The National Cyber Security Center of Vietnam has warned people to be vigilant against fake websites that look like a bank or e-commerce website.

It received 166 reports of fake websites in the first week of February.

There are many other fraudulent websites pretending to be legitimate major enterprises such as FPT Telecom, Electricity of Vietnam (EVN), or Lotte.

Nearly 1,600 cases of fraudulent website data have been discovered this year relating to loan applications, credit, promotions, gift receipts, web pages, and e-trading floors, according to the center.

Of the more than 15,500 cases of fake website data discovered between 2021 and 2023, nearly 76 per cent were financial scams and 18.5 per cent phishing scams.
