Vietnam Customs officially launched the "Viet Nam Customs Data" application on June 27, marking a major step in replacing traditional paper-based reporting with a digital platform that will fundamentally change the way customs statistics are collected, reported, and utilized.

This initiative plays a vital role in financial management and supports the Government in macroeconomic decision-making by providing comprehensive, timely, and accurate data.

In the context of global economic integration, the application is expected to contribute significantly to fostering a more transparent, business-friendly, and investment-conducive environment. It also enhances the operational efficiency of government agencies and the customs sector, while advancing the broader objective of building a digital government.

Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Minister of Finance Bui Van Khang noted that the launch exemplifies a spirit of innovation and firm commitment to digital transformation across the finance and customs sectors.

To optimize the application’s potential, Mr. Khang urged relevant agencies to continue enhancing its adaptability by integrating it with digital systems operated by the Ministry of Finance, the Customs Department, and other related entities. This integration will empower ministries, sectors, and local authorities to access and use the data more effectively, while streamlining administrative procedures and cutting costs and time for government operations.

He also called for the expanded use of artificial intelligence (AI) in data management and processing. Highlighting its successful adoption in various sectors, he stressed that AI plays a key role in improving data quality and ensuring information security.
