Vietnam ADR Week 2026 (VAW 2026) officially opened in Hanoi on May 25 under the theme “Arbitration and ADR: Reaching New Heights,” alongside the launch of the VIAC Arbitration Rules 2026.
The event, running from May 25 to 29 in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, is jointly organized by the Vietnam International Arbitration Centre (VIAC) and the Vietnam Lawyers Association.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Deputy Minister of Justice Mai Luong Khoi emphasized that legal certainty and the effective protection of the legitimate rights and interests of citizens and businesses are becoming increasingly important indicators of economic development.
“A fast-growing and sustainable economy requires not only capital and technology, but also a stable, transparent, and predictable legal environment,” he said, noting that property rights, business freedom, and contractual rights must be firmly protected, while disputes must be resolved fairly and efficiently.
Amid Vietnam’s ongoing institutional reforms and efforts to enhance national competitiveness, commercial arbitration and mediation are playing an increasingly vital role in strengthening investor confidence and improving the business environment.
Mr. Nguyen Khanh Ngoc, President of the Vietnam Lawyers Association, who is also Deputy Minister of Justice, highlighted the importance of transparent legal frameworks and accessible, cost-effective dispute resolution mechanisms in promoting investment and supporting Vietnam’s global economic integration.
