In the framework of the Autumn Economic Forum 2026, Vietnam and India discussed six areas of cooperation, ranging from human resource development, artificial intelligence, semiconductors to climate technology, healthcare, and investment connectivity.

The Vietnam-India Future Technology Forum took place in Ho Chi Minh City on October 26, within the framework of the Autumn Economic Forum 2026 (AEF 2026).

At the event, experts from the two countries explored opportunities to connect India’s research and technological strengths with Vietnam’s digital transformation needs and business development priorities.

The event focused on six key areas: technology talent development and global leadership; artificial intelligence (AI), digital public infrastructure and digital trust; semiconductors and Industry 4.0; space technology, geospatial technology and smart port cities; climate technology, biotechnology and healthcare; and start-ups, investment and access to global markets.

Discussions extended beyond digital technologies to areas linked to urban development, manufacturing and quality of life. Cooperation in space and geospatial technologies, smart port cities, climate solutions, biotechnology and healthcare could open up opportunities to address shared development needs.

Meanwhile, stronger connections among start-ups, investors and international markets could help translate research and technological innovation into commercial applications.

Vietnam and India have set a target of increasing bilateral trade to $25 billion by 2030. Beyond trade and investment, technology cooperation could expand through joint research, workforce training and the adoption of new technologies across manufacturing and services.

The establishment of friendly and cooperative relations between Ho Chi Minh City and Mumbai in May 2026 is expected to create further opportunities for collaboration in trade and investment, education and training, urban planning, infrastructure, green growth and digital transformation.
