Vietnam attends Russian Energy Week 2025

Vietnamese Deputy Prime Minister Bui Thanh Son attended the 8th Russian Energy Week 2025 Forum, which opened in Moscow, Russia, on October 15, according to a report from the Government News.

Addressing the event, the Deputy Prime Minister  emphasized that energy plays a vital role—not only in ensuring national energy security but also in supporting sustainable socio-economic development.

Energy is no longer merely a simple resource or fuel, he said, adding that it is becoming the foundation of peace, development, equity, and the energy of the future—energy for humanity.

By 2030, with a vision toward 2045, Vietnam aims to firmly ensure national energy security, provide sufficient, stable, and high-quality energy, reduce emissions to support socio-economic development, safeguard national defense and security, improve people's livelihoods and protect the ecological environment, Deputy Prime Minister Son said.

He referred to the Vietnamese Government's plans regarding the expansion of infrastructure and enhancement of technical capacity to receive LNG, adding that there will be approximately 10–14 LNG terminal clusters serving corresponding gas-fired power plants across all regions of Vietnam.

LNG terminal and gas power investors in Vietnam are actively working to put these power plants into commercial operation between 2028 and 2030, according to the official.

Vietnam welcomes investors' efforts to exchange and share experience in developing and operating LNG terminal infrastructure with Russian companies and others around the world, the Deputy Prime Minister affirmed.

Under the theme "Building the Energy of the Future Together", the event served as a key platform for global discussions on current challenges and future directions in the energy and fuel sectors, with Vietnam expected to take part in a series of important bilateral engagements on its sidelines.

The 2025 forum has attracted around 5,000 participants from 84 countries and territories, including senior executives of major energy corporations, government officials, experts, scholars, and young professionals. Over 70 events will take place within the forum's framework, with 28 major agreements expected to be signed.
