Vietnam and China plan to hold a pilot opening of the Ban Gioc (Vietnam) - Detian (China) Waterfall in October.

Part of the waterfall is located in northern Cao Bang province.

The Vietnamese and Chinese Governments signed a cooperative agreement on protecting and exploiting tourism resources at Ban Gioc - Detian Waterfall on November 5, 2015, and it took effect on June 16, 2016, according to Chairman of the Cao Bang Provincial People’s Committee Hoang Xuan Anh.

Cao Bang has conducted surveys and held several talks with authorities in China’s Guangxi province. The two sides agreed on plans for creating border crossings, building border checkpoints and barriers, and managing and operating the site to welcome tourists from both sides on a trial basis.

The opening is expected to help Cao Bang tap its tourism potential to promote socio-economic development and cross-border exchange.
