The Vietnam Digital Summit 2026 was held in northern Ninh Binh province on June 5 under the theme “Developing Digital Platforms and Digital Services, Bringing Activities to the Digital Environment.”
The forum featured discussions on digital platforms, data infrastructure, artificial intelligence applications, digital governance and policy frameworks aimed at advancing a sustainable digital economy.
Addressing the forum, Deputy Minister of Science and Technology Bui Hoang Phuong said Vietnam has identified science and technology, innovation and digital transformation as three strategic pillars driving the country's development in a new era of growth.
Vietnam has made significant strides in digital transformation over the past few years, supported by an increasingly comprehensive legal framework, modern digital infrastructure and growing adoption of emerging technologies, according to Mr. Phuong.
He noted that the government has made substantial progress in establishing the legal foundations for digital transformation. In 2025 alone, Vietnam amended 10 laws and issued numerous decrees and circulars, while introducing key legislation such as the Law on Digital Transformation, the Law on Digital Technology Industry, the Data Law and the AI Law.
The deputy minister also highlighted the country's expanding digital infrastructure, including 5G coverage reaching more than 90% of the population, as well as major national digital platforms such as the National Population Database and the VNeID digital identity system.
Vietnam Digital Summit 2026 attracted more than 1,000 delegates, hundreds of technology companies, international organizations, research institutes and leading technology groups. In addition to the high-level forum, the event included exhibitions, thematic workshops, investment networking activities and technology showcases.
