Vietnam has become the fastest-growing market for Norwegian salmon in Southeast Asia, with consumption expected to be furrther accelerated in 2026, according to the Norwegian Seafood Council (NSC).
Fresh Norwegian salmon exports to Vietnam rose 16% year-on-year in volume in the first two months of 2026, while frozen shipments surged 37%, the NSC said at an industry event held in Ho Chi Minh City on March 25.
In 2025, Vietnam imported about 7,900 tons of fresh Norwegian salmon, up 40% compared to the previous year.
With a stable macroeconomic foundation and improving household spending, the prospects for the Norwegian salmon market in Vietnam are viewed positively. The NSC said it will continue to strengthen partnerships with local trade partners to support sustainable growth and further expand the presence of Norwegian seafood in Vietnam.
