Vietnam imported 97,767 completely-built-up (CBU) cars this year, as of August 15, with total value estimated at over $2 billion, according to the General Statistics Office of Vietnam.
The figure represents a year-on-year increase of 16.2% in volume and 1.6% in value.
In the first half of August, 6,195 cars were imported, worth $114.66 million.
Indonesia was the biggest supplier of cars to Vietnam as of July, 2024 with 38,040 units valued at $557.3 million.
Thailand ranked second in terms of volume but took the lead in value. The country exported 32,717 units to Vietnam in the period, worth $628.6 million.
China exported 17,235 units to Vietnam, worth $521.65 million, ranking third in quantity but second in value.
