Vietnam’s Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism hosted the first Cambodia-Laos-Vietnam (CLV) Tourism Ministers’ Conference in Ho Chi Minh City on August 26, officially launching a high-level mechanism for tourism cooperation among the three neighboring countries.
Vietnamese Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Lam Thi Phuong Thanh said the conference marked the formal start of cooperation among the three tourism ministers, aiming to make tourism development more effective and substantive.
The meeting also concretised an agreement reached by the three countries’ prime ministers to establish a cooperation mechanism to implement the “One Journey, Three Destinations” initiative, which seeks to promote cross-border tourism and encourage visitors to combine destinations in the three countries.
The ministers adopted a Joint Action Plan on Tourism Cooperation for 2026-2028, under which Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia will promote joint tourism products, strengthen connectivity and facilitate travel and transport between the three countries.
The countries also agreed to step up joint marketing and promotion and develop a shared tourism brand under the “One Journey, Three Destinations” model.
The action plan places particular emphasis on improving the capacity of tourism officials and sharing expertise and experience among the three countries.
The new framework is expected to deepen tourism links among the three countries and create more integrated travel experiences among them.
