The Vietnam New Economic Forum is aimed at becoming a regular channel for information exchanges between Vietnam’s business community and the country’s policymakers and senior officials, which will help create multi-dimensional information flows and act as a valuable reference source, according to Dr. Chu Van Lam, Editor-in-Chief of VnEconomy / Vietnam Economic Times (VET).
He made the remarks while closing the first Vietnam New Economic Forum, which was co-hosted by VnEconomy / VET and the Central Institute for Economic Management (CIEM) on October 6 in Hanoi, with the theme “New economic models to promote breakthrough growth and sustainable development”.
The movement of policies and orientations in Vietnam towards creating more favorable conditions for businesses aims to boost the efficiency of new economic models, contributing to raising business competitiveness and implementing national growth and socio-economic development targets, Dr. Lam went on.
However, the implementation of a legal framework and policies remains ongoing, so feedback from businesses regarding new economic models has a key role to play, he said.
This is the first time the Forum has been organized by VET - an economic news agency with a huge number of both domestic and foreign readers, the majority of whom are business identities, and CIEM - an agency that studies policies and important economic plans from the Vietnamese Government.
“We hope this cooperative effort will be valuable and serve policy communication tasks and the operations of economic sectors and the business community,” Dr. Lam said.
