Vietnam ranks third among Asian destinations most attractive to European tourists based on accommodation searches, the Government News quoted digital travel platform Agoda as reporting on May 23.
The country recorded a 66% increase in searches from European visitors, behind Malaysia (89%) and Japan (71%).
Some countries in Europe with the highest number of searches for Vietnam tourism in April this year included France, Germany, the UK, the Netherlands and Spain.
Meanwhile, the three destinations in Vietnam most sought by European tourists are Ho Chi Minh City, Hoi An in the central province of Quang Nam and Nha Trang in the central province of Khanh Hoa.
The three destinations are also ideal choices for tourists who want to make the most of their long summer vacation in Vietnam.
The country saw 1.55 million international arrivals in April, bringing the total number of foreign tourists and 6.2 million ones in the first four months of this year to 6.2 million, 3.9% higher than the figure recorded in the same period of 2019, the peak of international arrivals before the Covid-19 pandemic.
Visitors from European countries continue to grow strongly, thanks to the open visa policy applied from August 15, 2023.
The new visa policy extends stay duration from 15 days to 45 days for tourists from 13 countries enjoying unilateral visa exemption, regardless of passport type and entry purpose, which include: Germany, France, Italy, Spain, the UK, Russia, Japan, the Republic of Korea, Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Finland and Belarus.
