Vietnam and Singapore will continue promoting human resources development, targeting cooperation in the knowledge economy and improving employment quality, Deputy Minister of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs Le Van Thanh has said.
“Vietnam - Singapore Industrial Park (VSIP) models in Binh Duong, Nghe An, Bac Ninh, Binh Dinh, Quang Ngai, and Can Tho are performing effectively, opening significant opportunities for the two countries to strengthen cooperation in human resources based on cooperation in the knowledge economy,” Deputy Minister Thanh recently told Singapore’s Senior Minister of State, Ministry of Defense & Ministry of Manpower, Zaqy Mohamad.
He said the Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs (MoLISA) proposed that Singapore share is experience in building a labor market database, analyzing employment trends, and raising employment quality in the digital era.
MoLISA also called on Singapore to consider officially receiving Vietnamese workers under a work permit scheme in areas in need of human resources.
For his part, Mr. Mohamad said Singapore is ready to assist and share with Vietnam its experience in the training of high-quality human resources and in occupational health and safety.
With 3,094 projects and capital of $70.8 billion, Singapore maintained its leading position among ASEAN member countries and ranked second among 141 countries and territories in investing in Vietnam as of December 2022.
