Vietnam recorded more than 500 cyber attacks between January 20 and 26 as the country was celebrating Tet (the Lunar New Year), according the Ministry of Information and Communications’ Authority of Information Security (AIS).
The figure was a 23 per cent increase compared to the previous week and 13 per cent year-on-year.
The most common type of attack was phishing, accounting for 72.6 per cent of the total, followed by malware with 11.4 per cent.
Experts have warned that internet users should be careful about fake discount or promotional programs for Tet.
Agencies, organizations, and businesses need to regularly conduct reviews and inspections to quickly discover signs of cyber attacks and adopt effective preventive measures.
