Vietnam aims to turn tourism into a truly spearhead economic sector with green growth and world leading development capacity by 2030, targeting to attract 25-28 million international visitors and 130 million domestic tourists by 2025, under a master plan on the tourism system for the 2021 - 2030 period, with a vision to 2045.
The plan was approved by Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha on June 13, the Government News has reported.
The number of foreign arrivals and domestic tourists are expected to reach 35 million and 160 million by 2030, respectively.
The plan sets an annual growth of 13-15% in the number of international visitors and 4-5% in the number of domestic tourists during the period.
Tourism is expected to directly contribute 8-9% to the GDP by 2025 and 13-14% by 2030.
Under the plan, Vietnam is expected to become a globally outstanding destination and one of the countries with the strongest tourism development in the Asia-Pacific region by 2045.
