Phạm Vinh -

Country also expected to be among the world’s top 20 countries in terms of Ipv6 by 2025.

Under planning for the development of information and communications infrastructure in the 2021-2030 period and vision to 2050, approved in Prime Ministerial Decision No. 36/QDD-TTg, dated January 11, 2024, Vietnam is to have two to four more international submarine communications cables and is expected to be among the world’s top 20 countries in terms of Internet Protocol version 6 (Ipv6), with all high-tech parks and research and development (R&D) and innovation centers gaining access to high-speed internet services of at least 1Gb/s by 2025.

In relation to data and cloud computing infrastructure, there will be large-scale and green data centers in line with plans for energy regions, ensuring that these data centers are synchronously connected and have the capacity for mutual backup, thus developing big data and allowing for the effective exploration of existing data centers.

Accordingly, by 2025, national data centers will serve as national database and public database infrastructure, as regulated by law. There will be at least three multi-goal data centers at the national level and many others at the regional level.

Additionally, all government agencies will apply a cloud computing ecosystem in service of digital government, while 70 per cent of Vietnamese enterprises will use domestic cloud computing services.

Under planning, information technology infrastructure will be prioritized as development resources, with digital platforms serving as national infrastructure for multifaceted applications and services in socio-economic activities in the digital environment.

The information technology industry will be developed on the basis of such digital technologies as AI, big data, blockchain, cloud computing, and the Internet of Things (IoT), etc. Digital technologies will be applied as a digital technology industry in all parts of socio-economic life in the country.

According to targets outlined in the planning, by 2030 there will be three to five regional postal service centers nationwide, with an average capacity of handling 15,750 tons of parcels a day.
