The World Bank (WB) has recommended that Vietnam continue to deploy resources to minimize the adverse social impacts from the pandemic and address the risks to growth.

At a meeting between Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son and Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov during the former’s official visit to Russia, the two countries agreed to soon restore normal travel by the citizens of both.

On September 27, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs received 2.6 million doses of vaccine from Germany via bilateral channels, joining more than 850,000 doses received previously from the country via the COVAX facility and bringing the total number it has provided to Vietnam to 3.45 million.

At a meeting with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov within the framework of his official visit to Russia, Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son suggested that the country give priority to providing vaccines and transferring production technology to Vietnam.

FDI enterprises have continued to increase their capital flows into Vietnam despite Covid-19. The country, however, must ensure the circulation of goods and supply chains in order to maintain its attractiveness.

The Prime Minister has sought to urgently work with other countries on recognizing “vaccine passports”. Mutual recognition of the passports is an important and necessary step in recovery.
