Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has affirmed Vietnam’s strong commitment to ensuring the success of the APEC Year 2027 to be hosted by the country, contributing to concretizing APEC’s action programs and vision, and reinforcing its role as a driver of regional and global growth and economic integration.
The statement was made during the inauguration ceremony of the National Organizing Committee for APEC 2027, chaired by the Prime Minister in Hanoi on July 28.
Vietnam will strive to deliver comprehensive success across all APEC 2027 activities — politically, economically, culturally, and socially — to ensure tangible benefits for both the people and the business community, PM Chinh said.
In preparation for the event, Vietnam is accelerating the expansion of Phu Quoc International Airport, constructing a new convention center, and upgrading key infrastructure such as power and water systems, roads, and accommodation facilities. These developments aim to not only serve the APEC Economic Leaders' Week but also provide long-term momentum for development.
APEC 2027, theming "Connecting, Building Inclusive and Resilient Economies," will take place in Phu Quoc island which has since July 1, 2025 become a special zone as defined in the two-tier local administration system, being directly under the jurisdiction of the provincial government, located in the Mekong Delta province of An Giang.
