Vietnam’s Index of Industrial Production (IIP) for the first nine months of 2025 is estimated to have increased by 9.1% year-on-year, according to the National Statistics Office (NSO).
The processing and manufacturing industry — a key driver of the economy — posted strong growth of 10.4%, while electricity production and distribution rose 6.1%, water supply and waste management expanded 8.8%, and the mining sector edged up 0.1%.
Several key industries recorded double-digit growth compared to the same period last year, including motor vehicle manufacturing (26%), rubber and plastic products (17.3%), non-metallic mineral products (12.7%), apparel manufacturing (13.5%), and leather and related products (12.5%).
Other strong performers included basic metals (up 11.3%), food processing (up 10.6%), and electronics, computers, and optical products (up 7.9%).
Among the 34 cities and provinces nationwide that reported growth, many achieved robust gains driven by solid performances in processing, manufacturing, and electricity production, the NSO said.
