Vietnam's National Data Center has become the first project in the country to be awarded the Uptime Tier IV Certification of Design Documents. The certification, granted by the Uptime Institute, also positions it as one of the largest Tier IV projects by IT capacity in the region.

The Ministry of Public Security held a ceremony to officially receive the certification, marking a significant milestone in the data center's development journey. This achievement confirms that the facility's technical design documents fully meet the stringent criteria for reliability, availability, and resilience required of a Tier IV data center.

"The data center's design underwent a stringent review and had to satisfy a series of complex technical criteria," said Major General Nguyen Ngoc Cuong, Director of the National Data Center.

"This includes being fully fault-tolerant, featuring a complete dual-redundant system plus an additional backup component, and ensuring it is concurrently maintainable without service interruption while also being able to withstand unexpected failures."

Furthermore, achieving this certification at the design stage not only demonstrates strong strategic planning and professional project implementation but also signifies a powerful commitment from the organization to build a data center that will operate at the highest international standards.

Tier IV is the highest level in the Uptime Tier Standard, guaranteeing operational continuity even in the event of severe, unplanned incidents.

Mr. Patrick Chan, Vice President for the Asia region at Uptime Institute, said: "This is the first data center in Vietnam to achieve a Tier IV design certification. We look forward to continuing this journey with the National Data Center through our partner, HME company."

"There are three pillars that create the availability and stability of a data center: the physical infrastructure (Facility), its Operations, and its Cybersecurity," he added.
