Vietnam’s wood industry plans to post export revenue of $14 billion this year as enterprises begin to see orders recover in preparation for the year-end shopping season in global markets.
Orders for furniture have returned since the end of the second quarter. The US, one of Vietnam’s key markets, has imported a huge volume of wooden products from the country. Other markets like Australia, South Korea, and India also have high demand for furniture, according to the Handicraft and Wood Industry Association of Ho Chi Minh City.
Vietnam’s wood industry also has the opportunity to export wooden products to countries in the Middle East, marking an important turning point for its furniture sector.
Wood exports totaled $6.42 billion in the first half of the year, a year-on-year decline of 29 per cent, figures from the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development show.
