In the first half of October, 5,770 vehicles of all kinds were imported into Vietnam, worth $139 million, bringing total imports this year to about 100,000 and turnover to $2.35 billion, figures from the General Department of Vietnam Customs show.
The volume of imported vehicles between January and October 15 fell by 21,000 against the same period last year.
Among vehicles imported in the first half of October, nine-seat cars took the lead, with 5,057 units, accounting for 87.6 per cent of the total.
Thailand remains Vietnam’s biggest car supplier, with 42,366 vehicles and turnover of $882.74 million this year, followed by Indonesia with 34,933 vehicles and $482.8 million and China with 7,712 vehicles and $297 million.
