Total electricity generation in the first eleven months of this year reached 257.35 billion kWh, a 4.3 per cent increase compared to the same period last year, according to Electricity of Vietnam (EVN).
In November alone, 23.22 billion kWh of electricity was generated, a year-on-year rise of 8.2 per cent.
Of the eleven-month total, 117.67 billion kWh was generated from coal thermal power plants, or 45.7 per cent, 74.57 billion kWh from hydro power plants, or 29 per cent, and 34.7 billion kWh from renewable energy, or 13.5 per cent.
EVN and relevant units also began construction of 77 power projects in the period and put 84 into operation.
It has predicted that electricity consumption in December will reach an average of 773.3 million kWh a day, a year-on-year increase of 10.6 per cent. Measures will be taken to ensure supply.
