More than 13,500 new enterprises were established in January with total registered capital of over VND151.4 trillion ($6.3 billion), figures from the Business Registration Agency at the Ministry of Planning and Investment reveal.
The figures represent increases of 24.8 per cent and 52.8 per cent, respectively, compared to the same period last year.
The new enterprises are mostly in the fields of services, wholesale and retail, manufacturing and processing, education and training, mining, and construction.
There were also 13,799 enterprises that had temporarily suspended operations resuming operations in January.
Nearly 44,000 others registered for a temporary suspension of operations, a year-on-year rise of 25.5 per cent.
Some 7,800 enterprises ceased operations while waiting to complete dissolution procedures, up 14 per cent year-on-year, while 2,165 businesses were dissolved, up 6.2 per cent.
